Thirty-one unique performances of Paul Anka's song “My Way” play in the relative sequence and volume they were originally recorded (some audible, others barely so). Combined, voices from over four decades—Frank Sinatra in 1967, Aretha Franklin in 1970, Elvis Presley in 1977, Sid Vicious in 1978, The Four Tops in 1984, and Chara in 2011—take on even more distinction as they repeat the same lyrics. Witkin notes: “Authorship, responsibility, reflection, honesty, uniqueness, integrity, etc. are just a few of the things that it hopefully engages.” Backdated to 1991–, when Witkin acquired a double-track tape recorder, the piece also conceptually echoes his ideas of finding one's voice by listening to others.
