U.S. NAVY. Battleship "Maine".


BATTLESHIP "MAINE". Thus named to perpetuate the memory of the famous American warship destroyed in Havana Harbor just prior to the Spanish-American war. 394 feet in length, 72 feet in breadth, and has a displacement of nearly 14,000 tons. Speed 18 knots per hour. Horse-power, 16,000. Cost, almost $2,885,000. Armament comprises four 12-inch breech loading rifles of latest approved pattern and sixteen 6-inch guns, in addition to two dozen quick firers. Complement, 35 officers and 614 men.
