Following the Angel Gabriel’s announcement that Mary would bear Jesus, she visited her cousin Elizabeth, who had become pregnant with John the Baptist after years of being thought barren. The two women embrace in front of Elizabeth’s house, where her husband Zacharias appears in the doorway.
