Sculpture

Terracotta head of a woman on a short, circular pedestal. The unusual form of the base suggests that it originally rested on a platform within a shrine. It was probably dedicated at a shrine to the healing goddess Gula at Isin during the transition to the Old Babylonian era.

By 1972: with Nicolaos Koutoulakis, Geneva; 1972: purchased by the MFA from Mr. Koutolakis, 13 September 1972.
