DescriptionCompound weaving of silk and metallic yarns folding along center length (warp and weft density decrease for several ends and picks); each half of warp prepared with two yarns: 1) red silk and blue silk half-length dyed purple, 20 red silk and purple silk half-length dyed green. Obverse: patterned with 16 blocks (8 pairs) of polychrome brocading on purple, blue or green satin ground (3 patterns repeat twice (12), two occur oned (4)). Designs: floral arabesques or 8-pointed stars. Reverse: two orange sections, others weft ikat (2-3 color giving spotted effect). Red warp ties down weft and covers brocading yarns. Condition: water stain, both sides.
