Adventures in Art for Children on the Autism Spectrum
Pride & Portraits
In this course, we will delve into self-expression and pride in our unique identities. We'll analyze expressive and abstract portraits in the MFA's contemporary collection, including a new Community Arts installation created by young Boston students. This exploration will broaden our understanding of what a portrait can represent, capturing various aspects of a person's identity beyond just their physical appearance.
During our studio session, we'll reflect on the elements of our identities that we take pride in and wish to communicate to the world. We'll consider the unique mix of our cultures, communities, families, interests, personalities, and experiences that define us. Using a range of materials, we'll produce abstract portraits that embody these aspects of ourselves. Join us for this stimulating and creative session to journey into the realm of contemporary portraiture and experience the power of self-expression!
