Adventures in Art for Children on the Autism Spectrum

Creatures and Clay: Sculpting Mythical Beasts

In this captivating session, we will embark on a gallery tour at the MFA to explore the fascinating world of animals and mythical creatures in art. We'll observe how various artists have depicted animals, using them as symbols to convey deeper meanings and cultural significance. Additionally, we'll delve into the realm of imagination by examining artworks featuring made-up creatures and fantastical beings.

Our gallery tour will provide an enriching opportunity to appreciate the diverse ways animals and mythical creatures have been represented throughout art history. We'll discuss the symbolism behind these depictions and the stories they tell.

After our inspirational tour, we will return to the classroom where we'll unleash our creativity by sculpting creatures of our own imagination. Using air dry clay and a variety of sculpture tools, participants will have the chance to bring their unique and fantastical creations to life.

Join us for this exciting and imaginative session to learn about the role of animals and mythical creatures in art and to create your own sculptural masterpiece!
