Recommended for College/University and K–12 Educators
Join racial justice educators Wee the People to explore the exhibition “Writing the Future: Basquiat and the Hip-Hop Generation,” with a focus on using dynamic, Black-affirming approaches to engage students with the work of iconic artist Jean-Michel Basquiat. “Writing the Future” features Basquiat’s visionary work in painting, sculpture, drawing, video, music, and fashion, marking the first major exhibition of its kind to place Basquiat in the context of his peers —and sometimes collaborators. This session will highlight works by Basquiat, Rammellzee, and Toxic featured in the online exhibition. Wee the People will share their expertise in designing interactive learning experiences for kids of all ages and backgrounds that celebrate Black identity and expression.
This session is led via Zoom and includes opportunities for questions and dialogue.
An additional workshop related to the exhibition will be offered on January 13.
