Directed by Hervé Mimran (France, 2018, 100 min.). Digital. French with English subtitles.
In this bright comedy based on a memoir by the former head of Peugeot, Alain (Fabrice Luchini, of Courted and Cycling with Molière) is a high-profile businessman who has neglected his personal life in favor of corporate success. When he suffers a major stroke and wakes up in a hospital room, Alain must rebuild his life and his relationships with the help of a speech therapist, Jeanne (Leïla Bekhti). This may sound like the makings of a serious drama, but director Hervé Mimran tackles the subject with a feather-light touch, deftly weaving in moments of hilarity and razor-sharp wit.
