Directed by Milko Lazarov (Bulgaria/Germany/France, 2018, 96 min.). Digital. Yakut with English subtitles.
In the frozen Northern wilderness, Nanook and Sedna dream of reuniting with their daughter, Ága, who left her parents after a feud long ago. Nanook and Sedna live in a yurt on the snow-covered fields, following the traditions of their ancestors. Alone in the wilderness, they look like the last people on Earth, but their traditional way of life starts to change. Hunting becomes more difficult, the animals around them die from inexplicable deaths, and the ice has been melting earlier and earlier every year. Chena, who visits them regularly, is their only connection to the outside world—and to Ága. When Sedna's health deteriorates, Nanook decides to fulfill her wish. He embarks on a long journey in order to find their daughter. Ága was the closing night film at this year’s Berlin International Film Festival, and won the “Best Film” award at a host of other international festivals.
