Kick off your weekend on Friday, March 31, at MFA Late Nites! This after-hours party celebrates the new exhibition “Hokusai: Inspiration and Influence,” complete with dancing and DJs, pop-up performances, exploring the galleries, and more.

Hear Us Now: Amplifying Sounds of the Diaspora

DJ Real P is joined by a range of artists and performers for a musical journey showcasing sounds and moves rooted in African and Black ancestry. Performances include live art from Ambrojah, dance from AfroBeats Boston, music from Y.A.K. Band, and DJ sets from Slick Vick, Mez.Wav, and DJ Real P.

Words and Vines Experience

Curated and hosted by Black Cotton Club and Emerald City Plant Shop, Words and Vines Experience invites you to enjoy and share poems, songs, stories, affirmations, and prayers in an intimate setting. While you’re enjoying the show, purchase art from local artists and one-of-a-kind products from local makers.

“Hear Us Now” and “Words and Vines Experience” are curated by the Teachers’ Lounge, LiteWork Events, BAMS Fest, Emerald City Plant Shop, and DJ ReaL P.

Join two contemporary artists and a curator for a lively conversation on the intersection of gender, identity, and intimate interpersonal relationships in Maria Lassnig’s films. See excerpts from Lassnig’s work as well as work by others. Featuring curator Sophie Cavoulacos and artists Samantha Nye and Ng'endo Mukii.

Hokusai’s Great Wave with Lego Bricks

Event Policies

Guests of all ages are welcome; visitors wishing to consume alcohol must be 21+. Valid ID with proof of age is required to purchase alcohol. Food and drink will be available for purchase; no outside food or beverage allowed.

No reentry.

All bags are subject to inspection by Museum staff. Backpacks and large bags are not permitted. All other smaller bags are strongly discouraged, and may need to be checked in the Coat Room upon entry.

The MFA has a strict no smoking policy; this includes vaporizers.

The MFA reserves the right to deny entry or to ask guests to leave at any time.

All Museum policies apply to after-hours events. Please follow guidance of Museum staff regarding permitted areas for food and drink and other safety measures.
