Learn fundamental techniques in drawing, printmaking and collage through demonstrations, technical guidance and inspiration from the MFA Collection. Students explore innovative combinations of materials, color relationships, and composition to develop their own personal imagery.

Please bring a nut-free lunch, snacks, utensils, water bottle, extra masks and picnic blanket.

About the Instructor

Joe Carrigg has a Massachusetts Teacher’s License for Grades K-12, received an Art Teaching Certificate from Massachusetts College of Art and Design (2009), and earned a BFA in Painting from Boston University (1985). He attended the Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture in Skowhegan, ME (1983) and has traveled to study artwork in France, Lichtenstein, Italy, England, and Ireland. For twenty-three years, Carrigg drafted, designed, etched, and sandblast carved monuments for his family’s business, Thomas Carrigg & Son Monuments. Many of his artful works are in private collections, while his drawings, prints, and paintings have been shown in Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Vermont. He also teaches at the Brookline Arts Center and at the John D. Philbrick Public School in Roslindale.
