Combining rigorous gallery-based exercises and time in the studio classroom, refine and extend your drawing skills into painting with water-based media such as, acrylic, gouache, and watercolor. Practice mark making techniques and develop confidence working with color through professional guidance, one-on-one coaching, and constructive critiques.

Class will break for a short lunch.

Registration for February, April, and Summer vacation week classes ends at Noon the Friday before the class starts.

Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor

Karl Stephan holds a Masters in Art Education from the Tufts School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Expert in traditional and contemporary techniques of drawing and other two-dimensional media, Karl is a Medici Artist at Tufts and a well-regarded curator. In addition to his popular museum drawing classes for teens, Karl teaches privately in his Cambridge studio.
