Drawing (Studio and Galleries)

Focus on building your skills at different levels, as you explore elements of drawing such as—line, gesture, shading, texture, color, composition, proportion and perspective. Working both in the galleries and studio classroom, learn a variety of techniques and improve observational skills while working creatively with a diverse array of inspirational artworks.

Accessibility
Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor
Rose Christian holds an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts. Walking, mapping, making close observations, and depicting animacy and kinship with the more-than-human-world are themes in her work. As a physician-scientist, she explored human tissues with microscopes, x-rays, and sound waves to find those subtle shifts in shape, color, and spatiality that signify healing or disease. This practice of close observation has shaped her visual language as an artist expressed in different media: handmade paper, prints, paintings, artist books, drawings, and installations.
