Explore the natural world at the MFA! Be inspired by how artists interpret the world around them to create your own still lives, landscapes, and seascapes; create contemporary interpretations of the natural world like Andy Goldsworthy and learn how to draw like biologist Martin Johnson Heade!

Please provide a nut-free lunch, snacks, utensils, water bottle, extra masks, smock and picnic blanket.

Accessibility

Due to the building’s historic architecture, the third-floor classrooms, 305A, 305B, 305D and 305E, are not wheelchair-accessible and must be accessed by stairs. Please let us know in advance if the student has limited mobility; we can make accommodations, including relocating the class to an accessible space.

About the Instructor

Abel Ellery is a Connecticut native currently living and student-teaching in the Boston area. They received their BA in Art Therapy and Counseling from Lesley University and are currently pursuing their Master of Art in Teaching from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts. Abel has experience working with children of various ages and loves working with modalities such as drawing, painting, collage, as well as found and digital art.
