Directed by Phil Grabsky (UK, 2017, 85 min.). Digital. In English with open captions.

Exhibition on Screen, the acclaimed series of exhibition-based art films, is thrilled to present one of the most talked about shows of the year, an exhibition of Cézanne portraits currently on view at the National Gallery of Art (NGA) in Washington, DC.

One can’t appreciate 20th-century art without understanding the significance and genius of Paul Cézanne. Featuring interviews with curators and experts from the NGA, the National Portrait Gallery in London, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, and the Musée d’Orsay in Paris, and correspondence from the artist himself, the film takes audiences beyond the exhibition to the places Cézanne lived and worked.
