Diego Star by Frédérick Pelletier (Canada/Belgium, 2013, 91 min.).  A cargo ship is stuck in a remote Quebec port for repairs, and Traoré, an Ivory Coast mechanic, refuses to take the blame for the damage. Far away from home and family, Traoré tries to offer friendship to Fanny who takes him in, while he struggles to clear his name and return to work. “Refreshingly unpredictable . . . admirable social-realist drama Diego Star proves a more than watertight cinematic conveyance” (The Hollywood Reporter). In French and English with English subtitles.
