Directed by Zaradasht Ahmed (Iraq/Norway/Sweden, 2016, 86 min.). Arabic with English subtitles. Digital.
Nowhere to Hide follows medic Nori Sharif through five years of dramatic change after the American retreat from Iraq in 2011. While filming stories of survivors, Nori finds himself trapped between ISIS and Iraqi militias. In trying to save his own family, he is soon forced to turn the camera towards himself. The film gives us unique insight into one of the world’s most dangerous and inaccessible areas—the “triangle of death” in central Iraq. We hear the stories of the people who live there: survivors of the “new war” that has become life as usual, where the enemy is invisible, and there is nowhere to hide.
