Directed by Robin Hardy (UK, 1973, 100 min.). Digital.
Forty-five years after its release, this chilling and beautiful horror classic remains one of the best-loved films in its genre. It follows a straight-laced British police chief named Sergeant Howie as he investigates a report of a missing child on the remote Scottish island of Summerisle. Howie is disgusted by the residents’ open sexuality, strange pagan rituals, and seeming indifference to the fate of the missing child. As he works to unravel the mystery, Howie begins to suspect that the free-spirited islanders are harboring a terrifying secret.
