Directed by Gus Van Sant (USA, 1995, 110 min.). 35mm.
Nicole Kidman is typically wonderful in this candy-colored dark comedy about a fame-obsessed local weather girl (Kidman) who uses her 16-year-old lover (Joaquin Phoenix) and doting husband (Matt Dillon) for her own nefarious ends. Director Gus Van Sant eerily predicts our present-day culture of internet exhibitionism through his characters’ insatiable craving for attention.
