Dr. Ruth Barnes, The Thomas Jaffe Curator of Indo-Pacific Art at Yale University Art Gallery, will explore the cultural and social aspects associated with the color of textiles in some Indonesian societies. Her talk will include the MFA’s 19th century textiles from Sumba, Indonesia, a selection of which will be on view for the first time in decades.
