Line 41

June 14–18, 2017

Directed by Tanja Cummings (Germany, 2016, 91 min.).

Line 41 documents the meeting of Lodz Ghetto survivor Natan Grossmann, with the son of the former Nazi Head Mayor of Lodz, Jens-Jürgen Ventzki. Seventy years after the Holocaust, the two men encounter a mix of victims, perpetrators, and bystanders, as well as confront their feelings about one another. Line 41, a streetcar that passed through the Lodz Ghetto several times a day without stopping, provides a striking metaphor for the suffering of the Jewish people and the indifference of onlookers. Co-presented with the Boston Jewish Film Festival

Film fans who plan to see at least three films at the MFA in the month of June can purchase a June 3-film pass.
