The 1980s and early ’90s produced a wave of wildly creative independent films that opened viewers’ minds to new ideas, raising questions about supernatural phenomena and shedding light on the countercultures thriving on the fringes of American society. This yearlong series will transport viewers to a time when storylines were weirder, movie stars were scrappier, and special effects meant plenty of Claymation and slime. Most screenings are on 35mm film, and they usually fall on the first Friday of the month.
