Join the Lotus and Laurel Societies for a trip to the Getty Center in Los Angeles, California, to visit “Beyond the Nile: Egypt and the Classical World” on view from March 27 to September 9, 2018. This exhibition explores the artistic connection and influences between the ancient societies of Greece, Rome, and Egypt. Guests enjoy a private tour by Jeff Spier, senior curator of Antiquities, followed by lunch at the Getty Café. On Saturday, May 19, we will visit the Getty Villa, which has been entirely reinstalled.

Bonus: We have recently found out that an exhibition entitled “King Tut: Treasure of the Golden Pharaoh” will be opening at the California Science Center in Los Angeles in time for our visit. The exhibition, celebrating the 100-year anniversary of the discovery of Tutankhamen’s tomb, will feature over 150 objects from the boy king’s tomb, 60 of which have never before traveled outside of Egypt. Lawrence Berman, Norma Jean Calderwood Senior Curator of Ancient Egyptian, Nubian, and Near Eastern Art, and Denise Doxey, Curator of Ancient Egyptian, Nubian, and Near Eastern Art, will accompany any interested Laurel or Lotus Members to this exhibition on the afternoon of Thursday, May 17, the day before our visit to the Getty.
