Please join us for a combined event with members of the Laurel Society. Guests will hear from Denise Doxey, Curator of Ancient Egyptian, Nubian, and Near Eastern Art and Susanne Gänsicke, Conservation Specialist, on a special project focused on the preservation of a group of ancient musical instruments known as auloi, Excavated in 1921, this cache is by far the largest group of such reed pipes ever found together. Expected to last multiple years, this is a collaborative effort between conservators and curators from the Musical Instruments and Art of the Ancient World departments. Come view the auloi up close and see the extraordinary progress made over the past year. A reception will follow.
