Based on the 1926 Austrian novella Dream Story by Arthur Schnitzler, Kubrick’s last film explores the challenges of monogamy through a series of surreal vignettes. The film follows a New York City doctor (Tom Cruise) as he embarks on a harrowing, nightlong odyssey of sexual and moral discovery after his wife (Nicole Kidman) admits that she once almost cheated on him.
