Voice Over (La Voz en Off) by Cristián Jiménez (Chile, 2014, 96 min.). In need of peace following her separation from her husband, Sofia decides to take a reverse vow of silence: no cell phone, television, Internet, or reading for a year. Returning to her parent’s home, Sofia finds a situation far from peace and quiet—a disturbing rumor about her father, her sister’s return from Spain, and her impending divorce considerably complicate her life. A wry blend of drama and comedy, Voice Over is an acutely observed study of middle-class life in Chile.
