Musical Instruments Gallery Talk and Demonstration

MFA curator of musical instruments Darcy Kuronen will discuss the history of violin making in New England from the late 1700s through the early 1900s, with instruments from the MFA’s collection and examples kindly loaned for the program by John Chuang. Local violinist Brian Clague will be joined by violist and MFA curatorial research fellow Jayme Kurland to demonstrate a variety of instruments, including ones made by Samuel Brooks (1843), John G. Pickering (1846), the brothers Ira J. and Asa W. White (1860 and 1876),  F. O. Stanley (1880), and Jerome B. Squier (1885).
