Unfortunately, due to circumstances beyond our control, the Ruth and Carl Shapiro Celebrity Lecture “BD Wong: An Actor’s Journey” on June 15th has been cancelled. As we are unable to reschedule the program, all tickets will be refunded.

Award-winning actor BD Wong is one of America’s most versatile performers. BD has been on screens big and small for the last 20 years, appearing in such hits as Law & Order: SVU, Oz, Mr. Robot, Gotham, Jurassic Park, and Jurassic World, and his Tony-winning Broadway debut in M. Butterfly.

In this special evening, hear about his experiences and lessons learned in an industry fraught with rejection, typecasting, and racism that have given him a sharp perspective on the subject of diversity. Lauded for his resonant, inspirational messages, Wong addresses issues like racial self-image, Asian American parental pressure and the “model minority myth,” and the challenges of multiple identities.

The Ruth and Carl J. Shapiro Celebrity Lectures are funded by the Carl and Ruth Shapiro Family Foundation.
