Accident by Joseph Losey (UK, 1967, 105 min.). Lies and desire bubble below the surface in this enigmatic masterpiece from Losey and screenwriter Harold Pinter. A student and two professors vie for the attention of a female student at Oxford University. The story unfolds in mysterious flashbacks to reveal a game in which the men are merely pawns. “Each viewing…reveals new facets, like a puzzle-box gradually unlocked by giving it a different quarter-turn” (The Telegraph).
