Commissioned and organized by the Jewish Arts Collaborative in honor of the special exhibition “Memory Unearthed,” Songs of Freedom features creative interpretations inspired by the homeland of each of the musicians in The Welcome Strangers, an ensemble of some of the region’s finest immigrant musicians. Under the direction of Frank London, co-founder of the Grammy-winning Klezmatics and Iraqi-born, Jordanian violinist Layth Sadiq—musicians from Syria, Brazil, Haiti, Greece, Ireland, and elsewhere share songs of liberation and tolerance from their home countries as a tribute to the universal quest for freedom and understanding.
Free performance ticket required. Limited availability: first come, first served. Performance tickets available at Remis Auditorium Box Office starting one hour before show times.
