Kids Studio Art Classes

Preschoolers ages 3-4 make art with their adult companion, while kids ages 5–11 (classes grouped by age) are dropped off for weekly classes on Saturdays or Sundays, School Vacation Weeks and Summer art programs. Classes are taught by experienced educators who are professional artists.

Prepare to Register for Studio Art Classes

Class Options

The kids program is intended for ages 5–11. Classes are broken down into age appropriate groups that meet in-person once a week for ten weeks during the fall, winter, and spring. With morning or afternoon options, students explore the Museum’s collection, then respond to what they have seen through drawing, painting, sculpture, collage, printmaking projects, and more.

Summer Studio Art Classes at the MFA consist of full day, in-person classes organized by age 5-7, 6–8, 8–10, and 9–11. Students discover new places and cultures influenced by the collection; and draw, paint, sculpt, collage, print, and more. Each week is a new theme such as, Incredible Threads, Room with a View, Off the Wall and more! Please note that registration for summer classes ends at 12 pm the Friday before the class is scheduled to start.

During February and April Vacation Weeks, the MFA offers Tuesday–Friday Studio Art Classes for kids ages 5-11. Sessions are in-person and focus on a specific theme. With small class sizes of 12 students, (grouped by ages 5-7, 6-8 and 9-11) children discover new places and cultures; visit our galleries; and draw, paint, sculpt, and collage. Please note that registration for vacation week classes ends at 12 pm the Friday before the class is scheduled to start.
