Excerpt of Radha-Krishna Kirtan

Detail of lithograph depicting Radha embracing Krishna who is playing a flute

Singing and listening to songs about Krishna and Radha is a form of Hindu devotional practice in Bengal. Singer Punna Moyee Dassi (also known as Roma Bai) recorded the song “Kanu Kahe Rai Kahite Ḍarai” in Calcutta around 1910. It presents Krishna speaking to Radha and telling her that he cannot repay the debt of her love.
