Explore the luxury of 18th-century Dutch domestic life through two works in the new Dutch galleries: a doll's house with more than 200 miniature objects and the East Indiaman "Anno Valkenisse 1717" ship model. Each model had a different intended purpose, and each has unique challenges for installation and exhibition. Examine the connections between the finely crafted miniatures in the doll's house to the full-size works in the gallery and hear from master craftsman Rob Napier, who researched, conserved, and rigged the Valkenisse, about the model’s role in historic shipbuilding today.
