Allan Rohan Crite (1910–2007) dedicated much of his rich career to documenting the Black community in Boston’s South End and nearby Roxbury. Crite worked and inspired many local young artists, who bestowed him with the honorary title “Dean of African American artists in New England,” for more than eight decades. Explore the artist’s powerful paintings and works on paper in the Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum’s “Allan Rohan Crite: Urban Glory.”
