Join the Center for Netherlandish Art for a keynote to its 2025 colloquium, presented by Dr. Judith Noorman, associate professor in Early Modern Art History at the University of Amsterdam. The CNA’s second Hans Brenninkmeyer Senior Fellow, Noorman has been in residence in Boston since early April. She is a leading scholar in the field of Netherlandish art and early modern women. For this keynote lecture, Noorman presents on her ongoing project, “The Female Impact,” ahead of a scholarly day of presentations—the third annual CNA colloquium—on Friday, May 16.

An NWO-funded VIDI-project, “The Female Impact” aims to map, measure, and analyze the impact of women on the Dutch art market in the 17th century by studying the household as an economic site. Drawing on various sources, the project studies how women manifested themselves as important patrons and professionals.

The Founders of the Center for Netherlandish Art at the MFA are Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo and Susan and Matthew Weatherbie.
