How can photographs from the MFA’s collection engage your students? Join this workshop to learn about the MFA's photography collection with Anne Havinga, Estrellita and Yousuf Karsh Chair of Photography, and Karen Haas, Lane Senior Curator of Photographs; to view art in the galleries; and to explore the many ways you can bring this content into your classroom.

One hundred years ago, the MFA was one of the first museums to collect “fine art photography.” A curatorial presentation offers a brief history of the collection as a whole—“fine art photography” as well as photojournalism, scientific photographs, land surveys, and more—and highlights select works that lend themselves to use across curricula. Then visit the galleries to look closely at photographs currently on view. Draw connections between these photographs and others utilizing digital slide decks from MFA Art Finders that you can then incorporate directly into classroom teaching. Light refreshments and discounted parking available.
