Listen to distinguished Greek historian and Markos and Eleni Kounalakis Chair in Honor of Constantine Mitsotakis, professor of Political Science and Classics, Stanford University, Josiah Ober, discuss his latest book, The Civic Bargain: How Democracy Survives (Princeton University Press, 2023), and mingle with the author in a private reception following his talk.

Professor Ober is the author of six books on ancient Greek political thought and practice and the relevance of Greek politics in today’s world. His latest book, coauthored with historian Brook Manville, offers a guide for democratic renewal.
