As “Fashioned by Sargent” so vividly demonstrates, John Singer Sargent was a master at depicting the folds and textures of drapery and capturing their weight and sheen. Known best for his portraits, the artist often chose the garments his sitters wore. Using Head of an Arab (dated 1891) as a starting point, along with other drawings and watercolors, take a closer look at how Sargent conveys color, shape, and texture through his bravura handling of various media.
