Artful Adventures offers specially designed in-person home school classes for kids and teens. Taught by trained Museum educators, these age-appropriate programs last two hours, include a pre-tour activity, gallery exploration, and a related art lesson. Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up.

February 11, 2022—Images Underfoot

Learn about the history, use and styles of mosaics in the ancient Roman Empire, then try your hand at making a glass mosaic of your own!

February 18, 2022—Skin Deep

Explore some of the many ways Native American artists have worked with animal hides for both beauty and function. Then practice the technique of leather stamping to create leather bookmarks and wearable art!

March 4, 2022—The History of  Faux

Study the methods and meaning of faux—materials made to look like something else. Then make your own marbled paper prints using traditional techniques of manipulating pigments in water.

March 11, 2022—Fiber Arts in America

The story of fiber arts in America is rich with ingenuity, creativity, and necessity. Explore how this tradition of women’s work is being rethought in contemporary times then learn basic embroidery stitches on burlap to create fabric art samplers.

Ticket Information

Each four-session ticket package must be purchased in advance, and is only available for sale online until noon on the Monday before the first session.

Class tickets include general admission to the MFA for the student and one accompanying grown-up. Supplies are provided.

We regret that there is no make-up, refund, or rescheduling for classes missed by a child, even those due to inclement weather. Refunds are given only if the class is cancelled by the MFA.
