The MFA’s first major Renoir exhibition since 1985, “Renoir and Love” sheds fresh light on the French painter who stands apart from his Impressionist peers. The 40 paintings on view, which have come to be regarded as Renoir’s greatest works, celebrate modern spaces and experiences. Through iconic MFA pieces and loans from the United States and abroad, explore the relationships, tenderness, and joy Renoir captured in the people of his time.
