Internationally respected cellist and violist da gamba Shirley Hunt brings together the important collection of musical material at the American Antiquarian Society with the MFA’s depth in 19th-century New England string instruments, recreating musical spaces of Boston in the 19th century. Local collector and expert John Chuang joins us to showcase instruments alongside MFA examples. Hunt performs with esteemed violinist Mariia Gorkun to reveal music from centuries-old manuscripts, highlighting the work of under-recognized performers and composers.
