Join Contemporary curators in conversation with three artists and get a first glimpse of their recently acquired works on display. Liberian American painter Papay Solomon uses the language of portraiture to expand African narratives beyond common misconceptions and dominant discourses. Tony Cokes, a professor in the Department of Modern Culture and Media at Brown University, is a widely acclaimed post-conceptual artist whose video, installation, and sound works foreground social critique. Ilana Savdie’s surreal and vivid large-scale paintings explore fluid identities. Each artist discusses the work recently acquired by the MFA in the context of their varied practices.
