Honor the 100th anniversary of the death of William Sturgis Bigelow (1850–1926), whose donation to the MFA provided the Museum with the largest collection of Japanese art outside of Japan. Anne Nishimura Morse, William and Helen Pounds Senior Curator of Japanese Art, speaks about Bigelow’s life and contribution, and joins Sarah Thompson, Terrie and Bradley Bloom Curator of Japanese Prints, and Asako Katsura, Ishibashi Foundation Assistant Curator for Japanese Art, in sharing their favorite works from the Bigelow collection.
