Mummy portraits have a lifelike quality that makes them appear familiar to modern viewers even though they were created two millennia ago. “Funerary Portraits from Roman Egypt: Facing Forward” at the Harvard Art Museums, in which the MFA’s funerary shroud of Tasherethorwedja is prominently featured, explores their purpose in ancient Egyptian burial practices. Lotus Society members enjoy a private tour of the exhibition, followed by lunch at a local restaurant in Harvard Square.
This program is scheduled to be an in-person event, however details may be subject to change.
