In honor of Latinx/Hispanic Heritage Month, join us for an evening celebrating Latinx heritage and culture, presented in partnership with We Are ALX and Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción. Catch live music, dance performances, and talks in the galleries; see works of art by Latinx artists; and connect with friends and family!

Special General Admission Pricing after 5 pm on September 18

Events and Activities

Drop-In Art Making: Ex-Votos, Paintings that Tell a Story

5–9 pm (last entry 8:45 pm)
Druker Family Pavillion, Linde Family Wing

Ex-votos paintings, often created on tin or found materials, express thanks for answered prayers or show, using pictures and words, something amazing or unexplainable that happened to someone. Get inspired by the works of art on view in gallery 336 in the Art of the Americas Wing, then use paint, markers, and mixed media to share a story of your own!

Community Partners Fair

Meet representatives from the Museum and our community partners and learn about the resources and programs offered. Partners include We Are ALX, Inquilinos Boricuas en Acción, the Mayor's Office for Immigrant Advancement (MOIA), and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Eastern Massachusetts.

Take the celebration to the next level with DJ Montro, who hails from the Dominican Republic and always keeps the dance floor full with his unique blend of Latinx music across genres.

Meet in Sharf Visitor Center

Celebrate Latinx heritage on this 30-minute tour featuring works by an Indigenous Mesoamerican potter, a Puerto Rican painter, and a Latin American female Surrealist. Learn about the cultural significance of these pieces and their impact on Latinx identity.

Spotlight Talk: María Magdalena Campos-Pons and Ana Mendieta

A Dance Journey through Latin America

The Verónica Robles Cultural Center (VROCC) is thrilled to present “A Dance Journey through Latin America,” featuring talented dancers and musicians. This vibrant performance showcases the rich sounds, movements, and colors of several Latin American countries, including Mexico, Colombia, El Salvador, Chile, and Peru.

VROCC promotes Latin American arts and cultures as an engine for stronger communities and economic growth, offering joyful and colorful dance, music, art and culinary experiences to all.

Rafa Moreno Band

Rafa Moreno, the Panamanian performer, composer, arranger, and producer puts on an energetic show combining very well-known salsa songs and originals. His orchestra, full of young and upcoming talents from different parts of Latin America, gives the music a fresh touch while preserving the traditional flavor.

SambaViva

Experience the color, movement, and energy of SambaViva’s bold choreographies and contagious rhythms. SambaViva is a Brazilian dance ensemble dedicated to authentically promoting Brazilian culture through dance and music.

All bags are subject to inspection by Museum staff. Backpacks, large bags, all liquids including hand sanitizer and sunscreen, and outside food or drink are not permitted.
