Ancient Egyptians had elaborate funerary rites and traditions, and mummification of animals played an important part in their votive practices. Sometimes these animal mummies are not what they seem, with unexpected discoveries concealed under their linen wrapping. Learn about different types of animal mummies and how conservators stabilize them on archaeological sites and in museums.

With Evelyn Mayberger, assistant conservator, Objects Conservation Laboratory.

Free with general admission. No advance registration or tickets required. Talks meet at Sharf Visitor Center.
