The MFA holds the largest museum collection of Emily Sargent watercolor paintings. They span 55 years of Sargent’s life, produced as she traveled across the Mediterranean painting hundreds of watercolors using various materials and techniques. Emily Sargent is often defined in relation to her brother, John Singer Sargent; the pair frequently traveled together, sometimes even painting similar subject matter. Explore a few of her watercolors newly on view and learn about recent research into her accomplishments as a watercolorist.
