Meet in Sharf Visitor Center
John Wilson’s dedication to art-making is evident not only in the number of works he produced, but also in the use of sculptural and painting methods when approaching his drawings. His self-portraits are of particular interest because they span a nearly 60-year career and are a catalogue of how he used destructive techniques to achieve the drawing aesthetic he sought. With a 2002 mixed media drawing as the focus, learn about the development of Wilson’s drawing practice throughout his career.
With Angela Lugo, Claire W. and Richard P. Morse Fellow for Advanced Training in Conservation of Works of Art on Paper.
