Join ethnomusicologist and multi-instrumentalist Althea Wair SullyCole for an in-depth lecture and demonstration on the West African kora. Wair SullyCole has trained on the kora for more than ten years, including three years spent in Dakar, Senegal. She has also conducted research as a Sylvan C. and Pam Coleman Memorial Fellow at the Metropolitan Museum’s collection of musical instruments, focusing on the kora. She joins us live for a presentation of her research and also performances on the MFA’s Malian kora.
